The MLA format for a work of art.
If your muse is a glorious, lush painting, give credit where it’s due.
Artist name
Title of work
Composition year
Museum/or place where work is found
Location of museum/or place where work is found
Formatting for an MLA bibliography would give you this.
Klimt, G. The Kiss (1907). Oesterreichische Galerie im Belvedere, Vienna, Austria.
Although not strictly called for, if you viewed the piece online, you might want to add at the end the site where you saw it, its URL and the date accessed.
Klimt, G. The Kiss (1907). Oesterreichische Galerie im Belvedere, Vienna, Austria. Art Collectors’ Guild. (2007, September 12) Retrieved September 12, 2007, from http://www.artcollectorsguild.com/detail/?id=1
It’s great that you can now recognize an MLA citation. No need to ever compose one yourself. Let carmun do it.
